Pressure Necrosis of Septal Cartilage Associated With Bilateral Extended Spreader Grafts in Rhinoplasty [Original Article]

Reply to ‘Percutaneous tracheostomy after full thickness burns to the neck: Why not?’

We thank the authors of the letter for their interesting contribution. With regard to tracheostomy after full thickness burns to the neck, we have merely reflected on our practice in the paper. We do not state that percutaneous tracheostomy is contra-indicated in these patients. The meta analysis refers to tracheostomies done in an ICU in non-burned patients . Our results in burn patients show no difference in complications including stomal infection. The authors of the letter should be cautious about making any significant conclusions on a series of 10 patients. (Source: Burns : Journal of the International Society for Burn Injuries)
