We read the article by Jamnadas-Khoda et al. with great interest and would like to make a few comments. There have been a few articles on the subject already in the literature and the results presented add little to those of Mercer . The temperature of a drink/foodstuff at the time of contact is of course important and data such as whether milk was added or time elapsed will provide a rough idea of the temperature however in practice, its usefulness is limited as no parent is likely to have a clear idea of either the starting temperature of the drink nor an accurate assessment of the time elapsed since it was made.
